Music Video Analysis - Violence
Song Title: Love The Way You Lie
Artist: Eminem ft. Rihanna
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uelHwf8o7_U
My music video expresses a lot of violence in the lyrics and the video.
Some of the lyrics that express violence are;
"Just gunna stand there and watch me burn, But that’s alright because I like the way it hurts."
- "You swore you’d never hit ‘em. Never do nothing to hurt ‘em. Now you’re in each other’s face spewing venom"
-" You push pull each others hair. Scratch, claw, bit ‘em. Throw ‘em down. Pin ‘em"
-"Next time I’m pissed, I’ll aim my fist at the drywall."
-"If she ever tries to f****** leave again, I’m a tie her to the bed, and set the house on fire."
In the Video, The couples body language is mean and violent, she spits in his face, and he pushes her against a wall. Some violent actions they show are actually fighting physically against each other, he bottles a guy she's talking to, he punches a wall and breaks a mirror, and throws his girlfriend into a wall, also grabs her wrist to make her stay. Some self mutilation shown is in the beginning of the video when she has fire lite in her hands and at the end when the guy is lite on fire. The message of the song is that even though they fight and hate each other, that’s how they love each other. and This music is Rap.

What Is the Purpose Of Media?
I find that, the purpose of media, is to inform me of what is happening but to also keep me calm and assured I am safe. I find that the media cuts the news down when it is first introduced to the audience but when the story is done and over with you find out all the missing details that would have gotten your heart racing before. I am not saying this is a bad thing of the broadcasters to do, because in a way they are doing their job,of informing us, but are not causing riots and freak outs in the homes of the audience. I find that they also only expose the whole truth about news when it involves a huge percentage of the audience ( aka Amanda Todd, 911, New Orleans Hurriacane) They do this because they feel like if they tell us all about these situations in hope it will effect us in a positive way. They hope. they don't guaruntee, with the Amanda Todd situation an outburst was made and the group Anonymous took action. I don't think this is a positive reaction but I don't feel it is a negative reaction either. The media is not at fault for how we react to the news we are recieving, they are at fault for keeping us in the dark until it is too late.
2012 VS. 60's Era
Your blog entry for today will ask you to compare/contrast and analyze 2012 vs your era AND any other era that you can tie in or relate to. For example, you might want to start talking about all of the similar presentations for 2012 and why you thought that happened? Was it a coincidence? You might want to compare some of the ads you saw. What was similar what was different? How were some of the eras similar? There are so many different aspects to touch upon.
2012. The year of The I Phone 5, One Direction, new Tim Horton's cup sizes, The Android, The I Pod Touch 5th Generation and of course the thousand new or remade, movies. There's no doubt that 2012 has been the year for new and improved technology. Whether its new artist and bands , new communication technology, or even just entertainment. We are growing up depending on these things like its our life line. 1960's. The years of coloured t.v and Pepsi, The Beatles and the great classic Psycho by: Alfred Hitchcock. It's loud and clear that our years have developed well beyond the 60's but in some ways we are still the same. But How? In each era, technology has vastly improved making our lifestyles different from the years before. Improving our lifestyle day by day. Some of the eras were different in a way where we've improved some form of technology from the past. for example, black and white tellevision, to know where you can get 3D t.vs, blu ray, and HD. Music boxes, to i-pod touchs, coca-cola glass bottles to close-able beer cans. A lot of the presentations for 2012 had the same information involved. Everyone know's SWAG and Yolo are the popular sayings of the year, Taylor Swifts first good break up song, the Asian's one hit wonder, and Justin Bieibers new album with his new voice. Everyone is exposed to the same type of technology everyday. Our year has been a huge improvement from the past couple of years, but the 60's were also a huge improvement from the past decades.

Slow Walker Rant!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPn-KLrG2PU&feature=plcp
Why did you choose the subject/topic that you did for this rant and did it help to get some frustrations off of your chest?
I chose this subject to rant about, because I am constantly getting frustrated in the halls when I get stuck behind slow walkers while trying to get to class, so I felt this would be a good time to get all my frustrations off my chest. So yes, this assignment did help.
What did you learn about technology during this project. Think about the research, the writing, the transfering, the taping, the transfering to electronic formats etc.
Ilearned that technology really goes a long way. It gives you information on anything and helps you understand what the assignment and point of it was.

The Voice Vs. The X Factor.
Can you imagine, it's a Wednesday night and you're wondering what to do for the last hour of your night. You sit down and turn on the television. You notice The Voice, your favourite show from last year is on. You quickly turn it on and hurry to catch up on what you've missed. Suddenly your mom comes in and tells you to see what else is on. You huff and search the guide. In the 200's you notcie Simon Cowell's The X Factor is on. Your mom asks you if you watch it, you glumly reply no because you know whats coming next.
"Well let's check it out" your mom demands.
You click the select button, disappointed, you tune into a screeching, ear- bleeding noise, and relaize it's a contestant on The X- Factor singing. You quickly switch back to The Voice, never to hit recall again. This is why I choose The Voice over The X Factor.
The Voice, and The X factor have been outted for having problems and competition between the two shows since the start of their seasons. Simon Cowell from The X Factoris brutally angry and trashing, The Voice's Blake Shelton. All of this drama because they share a night of entertainment for their fans. I personally, love watching The Voice because the judges are funny and have a great friendship ostage and off stage. The Voice's judges always tell the contestant why or why not they picked them, they don't leave them in the dark to wonder, "what did I do wrong". Where as the X factor I found, just humiliated the contestant, and left them with no help as to how to make themselves better for the future. I like The Voice, because even when you don't get chosen to be touched by one of the four judges talented skills, you leave their with their advice as to how to improve yourself for the next, "big chance".
The X Factor recently traded a few judges. In with the new, out with the old. Last season they had Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul, this season, they have upgraded to Brittany Spears and Demi Lovato in hope that their ratings with spike. Not only are the shows competing for more viewers, There is also judge rivalry, not just between Simon and Blake, but also Brittany and Christina. I find that The X Factor causes/ stirs up a lot of unwanted drama. Even on the stage, Brittany and Simon are known for being the rude and harsh judges. They make the contestants feel badly about themselves and I feel this may bring some viewers who find it funny to destroy dreams, and may lose viewers for the same reason. Even on The Voice, the judges, may sugar coat it but if they have a bad singer in front of them, they tell them how to improve and to never give up on their dream. In a way bringing their dreams back to life.
In the beginning intro to The X Factor, they spend about 10 minutes listening to the judges talk about the auditions and their ambitions, and the new judges. After a while it drags on for too long and it seems like their just wasting time. Where as The Voice recaps on the singers who made it on to the team and talks to the judges about their ambitions and goals for their teams. It only last about 5 minutes and then gets on with the show. I find that this is also common with the show it's self. I found that the X Factor only showed about one to two singers in between breaks. where as the voice got about three or four singers through. I felt The X Factor was just wasting time that they didn't have. which made it very boring for me.
I enjoy watching The Voice, because it sends out a positive message and always keeps me guessing on who will make it, who will turn around, and who will win the singer over, and I know for a fact that once the show kicks off it'll just get that much more interesting for me.
